Most Recommended New Zealand Honeymoon Accommodations

When it comes to planning your dream honeymoon, accommodation is often at the top of the list. After all, you want to make sure you have a comfortable and romantic place to stay during your special trip. If you’re looking for some inspiration on where to stay for your New Zealand honeymoon, here are two of my top recommendations:

The Lindis

If you’re looking for a luxurious and romantic honeymoon destination, look no further than The Lindis. Located in the stunning Lindis Valley, this property is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It offers a range of beautiful suites, each with its own private balcony or terrace. The Lindis also has its own on-site restaurant, which serves up fresh local produce.

Mahu Whenua

Mahu Whenua is a stunning eco-lodge located in the heart of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The lodge offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, as well as access to some of the best hiking and biking trails in the area.

Mahu Whenua has its own private spa, too, making it the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate after a long day of exploring.

Both The Lindis and Mahu Whenua offer an unforgettable New Zealand honeymoon experience. So whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or an adventure-filled trip, be sure to check out these two amazing lodges.

What to Do on Your Adventure Honeymoon in New Zealand

There are endless activities to do in this beautiful country, so I’ve narrowed it down to my top five recommendations:

1. Horse Riding at Mahu Whenua

If you’ve decided to have your accommodation at Mahu Whenua, then you absolutely must go horse riding. The stables at Mahu Whenua are located on the property, and they offer a variety of different horse riding experiences, from short rides suitable for beginners to all-day treks for experienced riders. There are also several scenic trails that you can take your horse on, and I highly recommend the one that takes you through the native bush to a secluded waterfall.

2. Hiking at The Lindis

If you choose The Lindis to be your home base, then you’re in for some fantastic hiking opportunities. The area is full of beautiful mountains and valleys, and there are several different trails to suit all levels of fitness. I recommend starting with the Silver Peaks Track, which is a moderate hike that takes you through some stunning scenery. If you’re feeling more adventurous, then the Mount Somers Track is a great option. It’s a bit longer and more challenging, but it’s definitely worth it for the views!

3. Heli Biking at Bike Glendhu

If you and your partner are looking for a little more excitement during your New Zealand adventure honeymoon, consider heli biking at Bike Glendhu.

Heli biking, short for helicopter biking, is an exhilarating way to see the country while getting some exercise in. You and your partner will be kitted out with all the necessary gear before being dropped off at a trailhead, where you’ll then bike your way back to the helicopter pickup point. Just be sure to keep an eye out for all the amazing scenery along the way!

4. Waterfall Cable Climbing at Wildwire Wanaka

Do you want something different for your honeymoon? Then, look no further than Wildwire Wanaka! Here, you can go waterfall cable climbing which will give you a chance to see some of the most beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand up close. The best part is that you don’t have to be an experienced climber to do this – as there are routes suitable for all levels. This experience is definitely one that you and your other half will never forget.

5. Ultimate Off-Roader Ride at Oxbow Adventure Co.

If you and your boo are the outdoorsy types that love a good thrill, then you have to try Oxbow Adventure Co.’s ultimate off-roader ride. Expect to be kitted out in a four-wheel drive and given a map and GPS before heading off into the wilderness. There are three different courses to choose from, each one offering its own unique challenges.

Afterward, you may want to add on a few extra adrenaline-pumping activities like jet sprint boat riding and clay bird shooting.

Now that you have an idea of some of the best activities to do on your New Zealand adventure honeymoon, here are a few tips to help you make the most of your time in this beautiful country:

  • Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreens, insect repellents, and hats, as the New Zealand sun can be quite strong, especially during the summer months.
  • If you’re planning on doing any hiking or biking, be sure to wear proper footwear and clothing. comfortable shoes, as well as layers that you can take off or put on depending on the temperature.
  • New Zealand is a big country, so if you want to see and do as much as possible, I recommend renting a car. This will give you the freedom to explore at your own pace and make spontaneous stops along the way.
